While bimbling around London, we stumbled upon a church that was performing a ceremony in Japanese. Enthralled with this incredible spectacle that was both familiar and deeply alien we were compelled to watch. As they begun to recite a prayer, we realised from the phonetic rhythm that is was indeed the Lords Prayer and we wondered if the potency of it was not in the words but the rhythm of the words like a magical spell containing all that is good in the world, forgiveness, compassion, gratitude, love, humility, peace & joy.
This is our sonic interpretation of this potent panacea of a prayer.
lyrics
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
